Hi, this succulent was placed outdoor in the shade before August and it looked neat and cute (1st picture).

I moved the plant indoor in August, and since then it's grown into what's shown in the 2nd picture. Note the differences: less ordered, leaves not pointing up, and pinkish leaf tips / edges vanished.

What is causing this? I thought succulents are indoor plants and should grow equally well or better when placed indoor. I still make sure that it gets sunlight by placing it over the window.

It just lost some color from not getting quite enough bright indirect sunlight. Indoors they do need to get that bright light from a few hours of direct sun through a window, outside in shade it was lacking the brightness it needed and was probably, due to not having the soil dry out quickly enough, staying damp for too long.

It's still healthy. I would give it brighter light, be sure it dries out between waterings and it will look as it should.

Light, light and more light. Give it as much light as you possibly can. Direct sun is okay if it isn’t all day long… at first. Eventually all day un will be fine.

So did you mean that eventually, once it gets used to direct sun light, all day direct sun light is good for the succulent?

Yes, I missed the “s”.

We grow them as groundcover in full sun here. Insufficient light is one of the biggest problems for succulents indoors, even more than over-watering.

All right! Good to know that, thanks!
