Have a couple of shampoo ginger plants. In zone 8. Advice on over-wintering them? Bringing them inside is not an option.

Can you post a photo? Keep the plant dry during the winter as it enters dormancy.

You will need to put them in a shed or a garage during cold spells and freezes. They should go dormant and not be affected if you allow them to dry well before housing them. .

We have some of these. Our original advice was to keep them near the front of the house facing south. More good advice from oneeye to keep dry. In a big frost, wrap 'em up with some fleece.

Probably just putting them in the ground would be the safest thing if you can't bring them inside. However, that depends on how deep you frost line goes into the ground.

Here in Florida we don't have a well defined frost line, so my Shampoo ginger returns every year, not only do they comeback, they spread.
