Howdy,

I cannot for the life of me identify this plant that started growing in my pond's bog filter. The previous plants died in a freeze, so when this little guy started growing I just left it to help leach excess nitrogen. It's looking pretty gnarly though, and I'm concerned that it'll create a massive root structure that I'll have to dig out eventually. Does anyone know what this could be?

P.S. I live in Houston, Tx if that helps with identifying. I've had dozens of flowering plants around the garden that probably dropped seeds everywhere, but this doesn't look like anything I've seen.

Thanks!

(EDIT) I forgot to add the pictures!

It's called Alisma lanceolata - but I'm not at all certain though.
