Propagating mulberry tree

I have four dwarf mulberry trees I planted last year. This was the first year they bore fruit. All but one. I suspect that one might be a male. It had a couple itty bitty tiny fruits on it, but it never produced the way my other three did.

I want to pull it out and replace it with another one that produces fruit. They propagate so easily from cuttings too.

My question is, if I take a cutting from the one I suspect is a male, will it produce another male?

I suppose I can take a cutting from a female, but I don’t even know if that would guarantee the same sex. Not sure how this works.

I just really don’t want to go to the trouble of growing another tree that turns out to be a male, and have to pull that one out again in a year.

If you think its male it's going to produce an identical plant from a cutting from it. That's true for all cuttings. Why not take cuttings from your best producing plant ?

You’re right, cutting from my best will give me the best results. I just wasn’t sure how the whole sexing works, so thank you for confirming my suspicions. I’ll take a cutting off one of the girls :)
