Potato Bugs (Roly Poly?) in the garden

I didn't know that these were pests until recently. They had a field day with my tomatoes! What do you guys recommend for dealing with them?

Do you want to use a pesticide or herbal/ natural remedy? I know they make pesticides to help. They can be found in garden centers, home improvement centers, and some super centers like Walmart.

I'd prefer non-pesticides but I'm not 100% set on that. I wonder if using a barrier cloth/plastic of some kind would help. Right now I don't have a raised bed so the plants are very "exposed" to everything in the yard, so to speak.
