Sorry for a stupid question but how do you determine a pot size? I have many pots but I don’t know their sizes? All my pots are round. When people say 4 inch pot, does it mean 4 inch diameter of the pot or the height of the pot?

Andy if you have plants that are going to grow well your always better also going for the next size up because it doesn't take long for some plants to out grow them.
