Hi everyone,

This is my first year having a vegetable garden on my balcony. It was all going well but now my squash and cucucmber plants have some pest that is eating their leafs. The pest is mostly on the back of the leafs, are very small and white color. It appeared a few days after i used fertilizer for the first time. Could this be the cause? Please tell me how i can control this pest in a way that is organic and safe for my kids to eat the vegetables.
Thank you!

I have a lot of cucumber plants and find that bugs are the biggest disease vector for them. What are they? white fly? It does not look like they are eating the leaf.

Those look like aphids and they can become a serious problem. However, they are easy to control.
You can control them by various means such as spraying with soapy water or even just a strong stream of water but these remedies do not get them all. Use any of many products that have spinosad as its active ingredient. This one product will take care of 90% of all the pests you may find in your garden. It is organic and safe for pets and people.
