Can I plant a fall crop of lettuce and peas in the same spot as the spring crop? Can I just dig up the old plants and put the seeds in those holes?

In my experience, it pays to rotate your crops. If you want a fall crop of lettuce and peas, plant them in different spots than they may have been in spring. For example, plant the peas where you had lettuce and vice versa.

Doing so helps balance out the nutrient demands on your soil and perhaps more importantly helps minimize the probability of disease and/or insect damages.
