Hi there. I live in Upstate NY and we’ve had a pear tree in our backyard forever. This year we’ve noticed a problem with the bark and leaves. Small sections are dying off, mainly towards the top of the tree and black spots are showing in some areas and patches of orange in the other. I’ll post some pictures below. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks all!

Welcome to the forums :) Although I`m not certain, I think your tree may have fireblight. Perhaps some of the other members would give an opinion too  @Chuck would probably know.

That is an old tree that is nearing the end of its lifespan. The closer it gets the more prone to diseases it becomes. In this case fire blight. There really isn't much you can do for this particular tree. If you want another pear in the future get a variety that is resistant to fire blight. This tree will last a FEW more years but will possibly/probably drop limbs due to weakening. It will also show a reduction of fruit.
