I have a Fatsia Japonica in a large pot, in the garden. I want to plant it into the ground. Would I be able to plant it within a grassy area without it being in an actual soil bed? I have a palm tree in the middle of the mossy/grass lawn and it grows fine.

I'm sure it would be fine, as long as it has some clearing around it. If you allow grass to grow right up to it, it will choke it. Not only that it will be difficult to mow around, and so it will become a pain. That's really why making a bed is best.

Thankyou.
