Pardon me if this thread is in the wrong category. I just want to show our corn crop that is starting to bear flowers. In a month, maybe I can post the photo of the harvest. I am so excited because this is the first time that I have joined in planting a crop. By the way, this is our extended garden, the vacant lot beside our property. We availed of the rain hence the corn crop is growing too fast. In the backdrop is the Indian mango tree.

Nice. I haven't tried growing corn yet because it takes up so much space. Your crop looks like it will turn out very nice.

Wow, it looks great:) I bet you'll have an amazing harvest! Corn is super delicious, I love snacking on it.
If I had more space, I'd definitely grow corn too.

The plants look healthy. This year, I have also planted corn on one acre of land. However, my plants are not healthy as your. There was a problem with germination, perhaps seeds were not good. Then, we also could not find laborers to clear grass and weeds. We are surely going to get a poor harvest.

Is there a way to grow corn in limited space? If there is I might try it. I love corn.

I'd love to grow corn too - it's a favorite here for grilling! But space is a concern for me - we have basically all our small garden space taken up right now with tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs.

One day, maybe I'll be fortunate enough to have more space to work with!

After a few days of taking that photo above, the corn crop is now sporting so many flowers. Our housemaid said that there are already signs of baby corn by the upper leaves. That means in 3 weeks time we would have the first harvest of corn. I'm sorry if I sound so excited because I am really excited. This is the first time I would experience a first hand harvesting of corn that we planted ourselves.

Wow! Nice crop you got there!. My daughter is growing a small row of corn this year. She's growing the popcorn variety, and there's already four ears on the corn. We're both excited too, so I understand your excitement!

Is there a way to grow corn in limited space? If there is I might try it. I love corn.

I have limited space too, I have experimented with several things some work better than others. Corn needs nitrogen, corn needs lots of water, corn needs full sun all day, maximum crop is when harvest matures in 85 degree, long sunny days, rainy weather. Corn is a 65 day crop and it does not do well in a small crop because it is self wind pollinated. I plant my corn May 1st when the soil has warmed up to 65 degrees for best germination. 65 days later my corn matures about July 15 when our weather temperature is about 90 degrees this is also at the end of our rainy weather. I plant a small 12 foot by 12 foot crop of corn with 7 evenly spaced rows. Seeds are planted 6 inches apart this gives me 175 corn plants. Most of the plants make 1 ear of corn some plants will make 2 ears of corn so my harvest will be about 190 ears of corn.

By Aug 1st I have picked beans 3 or 4 times it is time to pull up all the bean plants. I till the soil and plant another 12' by 12' corn crop. Oct 15 I can harvest another 190 ears of corn.
