As a little boy I was taken to Sissinghurst Castle garden. My parents were pretty liberal and I was allowed to wander on my own. I got chatting to an old lady in a huge straw hat who was deadheading a bed. My parents were quite excited when I re-joined them, turned out it was Vita Sackville West who designed the White Garden there.
It's quite local to us here.
