Hi, I’m looking to plant bushes to create a natural fence for privacy between mine and my neighbor’s yards. Which ones survive Toronto winters and that flower in summer/spring? Can i plant them now? Also have to be idiot proof.

Any suggestions?

Will make my wife happy

Wotcha Gav, Welcome!! You chaps all need for us to be happy wives, so I salute you for that.
My 'go to' hedging plant here in UK is Griselinia. It's evergreen and fast growing. Easy to cut and problem free. Plain green is the toughest one, although there is a variegated one too.
If you don't like your neighbours, you could add the odd prickly shrub like Berberis to stop them peeping through - there are lots of varieties, some with red leaves. To be even more adventurous, you might add the odd shrub that flowers like bush Rose, or Lilac for scent.
