This a pink-bracted variety of Tulip Ginger (Curcuma sp.), in the Ginger family (Zingiberaceae). There are well over one hundred species of Curcuma native to tropical Asia, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and New Guinea. One species (C. australasica) even reaches northern Australia.
The well-known spice, turmeric, is obtained form the rhizomes of Curcuma longa.
Species that look similar to the plant in the photo include C. aeruginosa and C. zedoaria, but there are many other species and hybrids to consider. In my garden, I grow another hybrid with red bracts known as Curcuma x 'Ban Rai Red'
