Hi!
Can anyone please help me with identifying these mushrooms? We got rid of a tree in our yard a few years ago they seem to be growing where the tree was and also where the roots still are. Can they be growing from the old roots? Any ideas how to get rid of the mushrooms? They grow pretty big and deep, destroying the grass.
Thanks!!

Those are the fruiting bodies of a fungus that is helping to decompose the underground roots of the tree. They are harmless and will be gone in a day or two. The only thing they do to grass is shade it temporarily. They aren't edible. If you want to hurry up the process of getting rid of them just kick them over.
