Late developer

Some of my tall plants for part shade,,Archangelica Gigi, have just had their leaves turn brittle and brown and died on me so I have a huge empty space just in time for the improved weather in London.Is there anything fast growing that will reach 1 metre plus for part shade that will fill it.I have lots of grasses so small plants easily swallowed up.

a creeper of some kind? orrr i think tomato plants can grow blummin quickly also on a trellis. im noob so i might be totally wronbg
