Itako Iris Festival

I'm planning on heading out to this Iris festival this weekend! It's about 1.5 hours drive from here, but it will be a nice way to spend one of the days of the weekend.

This is what it looks like - and it draws quite the crowds! Hopefully I will have some better pictures for you than the stock image when I go!

Do you have any flower festivals happening near you right now?

The irises are just now starting to set bud here in about 2 weeks every thing will start to pop with color.

This sounds absolutely wonderful! I love irises, they're one of the most beautiful flowers in the whole world. It would be a dream come true to see so many of them in one place.

They are absolutely one of my favorites too. One of the best things about living here in Japan for the last few years has been the fact that there are so many festivals all about flowers and nature - I find that no matter the time of year there is something interesting outdoorsy to see or do!
