Greetings, welcome to the Forums.
Houttuynia cordata is a spreading wetland herb, that is often grown for either ornament or culinary uses.
The herb is also known as Fish Mint, but it is not related to mints, but rather is a member of the Lizard-tail family (Saururaceae), which also includes the Lizard-tails (Saururus spp.) and Yerba Mansa (Anemopsis californica).
The scent of the foliage is strongly pungent, facilitating its use as a vegetable or seasoning. particularly in some Asian cuisines. The plant is native to southeastern Asia, China, Hainan, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan.
There is also a popular variegated form known as Jester Plant, Rainbow Plant, or Chameleon Plant (Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon'), with leaves riotously patched in shades of green, yellow, pink, red, and white. I can be use din all the same ways as the species.
