Hey folks,
I am new to this community and hopeful that I will get my queries solved here.
Nice to meet you all here!

So I do not have plantation/gardening/horticulture background but very much interested in starting a business or investing my full time into this.
I am unaware of where to start from / how to start ? Should I do any course to understand the technical bit or should search for wholesale supplier contacts for plant stock?
What is the eligibility to get the nursery up & running?
Where to find the suppliers for the gardening stock? How to find the right location for the land?
Your guidance/opinion/direction will be of high importance to me. Any information for this post is highly appreciated.
Look forward to your responses.

Hi Rashmi, did you happen to get answers to your questions? I am in the same boat as you were a year back. I am keen on starting a nursery business but I do not have any background of horticulture. If you were able to start your business or gather some information through your research, would you be so kind to share with me?

Welcome to the forum.
You make it sound like a simple retail business, buying in stock and selling on, and I suppose it can be like that, professional gardeners I know working for corporate clients will buy in a whole bunch of plants to fill an area; but you won't know what is wanted, you are starting from scratch. I would start at the beginning and raise a bunch of seeds and see if I could sell the plants, that doesn't need a lot of space, seeds are the cheapest way to raise plants. You can discover what else you need as you go. You don't need a full blown nursery to start off with, a market stall with ten different sorts of young plants you think will be popular would be a start and you would learn so much as you go along. I have a friend who did this with clothing, started with a market stall and ended up with two shops, if he had gone out and bought a shop in the first place he would probably have failed through ignorance of market and demand, by working one day a week on the market alongside his regular job he learned what moved and what he was left with without a large investment. Start small and learn as you go.

Hi Rashmi, welcome to the community!
To start your plant nursery, you might want to first research local suppliers and learn the basics of plant care. A course in horticulture could help. Also, consider hiring a local seo agency to help with your online presence and attract customers nearby. Hope it helps and good luck!
