Help Please :) What is this?

I have a new home and the previous owner had lots of plants and succulents growing in pots in the backyard. I would love to care for this neglected garden...maybe bring it back to life

Can someone tell me what this plant is? It looks like a cactus but it also looks like a tree. The leaves have leaves growing right out of another leaf.It may not even be called a leaf. It's more a succulent I think. The stems are woody like a tree but the green leaf is just like a succulent...hmmm....

It would help to know what part of the country you live in LaDonya so we can know what sort of climate the plant is growing in.
