Any idea what this is? It's about 3 feet tall, growing in Zone 7 near Memphis, TN. It's a volunteer growing under a cedar tree, which means it seems to thrive on neglect and limited water and nutrients. It has been growing in this spot for a few years, slowing getting taller. Looks quite healthy all things considered. I have no idea if it's evergreen or not. I'm considering transplanting it to another area where it can get more attention because I like the shiny green leaves. It looks almost tropical, but can't be in Zone 7.

You have a lovely Texas Privet. A bird must have pooped out the seed while sitting in the tree. It will get large and bushy in the sun.

Hmmm. A Texas Privet. You may be right, though mine has never bloomed, perhaps because it doesn't get enough light, or perhaps because it is immature. I'll have to give the matter more thought. I'm not sure I want a 10 foot tall allergen in my backyard.
