Hi I planted a Paul's Scarlet hawthorn tree around 2 years ago. I still have it staked. Should I be removing it yet? Thank you

That's a nicely balanced, healthy tree Kayte73. :) The crown has a good spread and although it looks to be in a sheltered spot, I think it would be wise to leave the stake in another year to support the trunk when the wind is strong, and to prevent it being snapped.

Thank you so much for your reply. Sometimes the wind gets quite strong and even though the tree is sheltered slightly I would be scared of it snapping. Have I staked it correctly? Am I right in thinking it should be able to slightly move? It's my first tree. I was really worried about buying it incase I did something wrong but I think it's doing OK. I'll follow your advice and leave it for another year. Thanks again

Not a subject I am an expert on, but it all looks carefully done, and the tree looks great.

The stake looks fine. The stake should be on the prevailing wind side so that the tree doesn't rub against it when the wind blows.
