Hi, this is one of two trees that I planted last year. There is something growing from the trunk near the base of my tree. I've looked online and I think it may be a sucker? It's growing downwards. Is this normal? Do I need to do anything?
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum :)

Not a sucker, just an old root.

Suckers usually come up some distance from the tree.

Yep, don't look like it's doing anything :)

Welcome to the forum @Kayte73 :)

Lovely choice of tree if I may say - we have a couple of those here. View attachment 78102
When will it start to flower. I got it on June last year. I can't remember how big it was but it was a decent size. I also bought a weeping cherry tree but I've just found out it's got honey fungus. I've been told to dig it up and burn it . They're not near each other though. One's in the front garden and one's in the back.

You should see blossom in May or June - it depends on the weather - something to look forward to.
