I have heard that growing carrots in a container is way easier than doing it directly in the soil, Never tried growing carrots before, but my dad did very well when he tried with the container.

If your container has height greater than 2' (60cm) carrot fly are no longer a danger, as they can't fly that high.

I just planted them, and read the package on when to harvest them. I didn't have any problems, other than rabbits and squirrels trying to eat them. I used regular garden soil to plant them in a raised bed.

Since we don't know where you are located we don't know the climate. Carrots like cool weather

I have this morning set 6 rows of Sugarsnsk carrots under enviromesh carrot fly proof netting. It is has taken me the best part of 3 hours as I am no spring chicken to get in the netting to sow them but job done. I have this year grown just Suagarsnsk as they are my wife's favourite and everyone else's that I give the to. Don't believe that for one moment that carrot fly cannot fly above a certain height. If there is a wind they are wind assisted and in they go. I don't get carrot fly because I leave a gap down the centre so that I can get in the the net to thin or weed them. After a few weeks the carrots will overwhelm any weeds.
