What is the best way to keep squirrels from digging up bulbs?

one thing I have not had issues with. someone told me the other day that they had put bone meal in when they planted the bulbs that probably caused the animals to dig. Anyway. heard putting out moth ball flakes work. But again for my property don't have that issue.

Maybe pepper. Something stinky until the bulbs settle. Powdered onion is cheap. Garlic too. Chili powder has some of all of it but salt too so watch your sodium or you will get high blood pressure when the plants dont grow right.

Chicken Wire over the Bulb Bed is the only way I've found to keep those lil bastards from digging them up.
