Flower-of-an-Hour, Venice Mallow, or Modesty (Hibiscus trionum) is a beautiful, summer-annual Hibiscus, in the Mallow Family (Malvaceae). Each flower blooms for only a day, but show continues for several months. Not only are the flowers beautiful, but the trailing habit of the plant makes it a good companion for a mixed planting of annuals and perennials. The clambering stems interweave among the other plants, making the whole arrangement look fuller and more diverse. This species is native to southern and eastern Europe, southwestern Asia, and northwestern Africa.
