I’m in New York and it’s my first time growing onions. I have a lot of gardening experience otherwise. I planted my onion seedlings out in mid March and for the first month they grew great and upright. Then the leaves just kept getting longer and bent at the mid point leading to my onion patch mostly looking like a tangled mess with a bunch of leaves being broken. The plants look extremely healthy otherwise with dark green leaves with new ones on the way. It’s been a. Very wet spring and I’m wondering if that could be the cause? Will this hurt my onion production? Any advice

Welcome @Nygardener58

A picture would help, but in lieu of that from your description I'd guess you have nothing to worry about. It's common for my onions to do the same. If/when the bent leaves show brown instead of green, I usually remove them.

As to the cause, I attribute it to environmental factors...e.g. wind, rain, etc. No production hit.
