So, many of you already know about my recent trip to Lowes and the bounty of clearance plants my mom and I brought home. Among those were two strawberry plants; one is fragaria spp and the other is an as yet unknown pink flowering variety -- that I am guessing is fragaria vesca AKA pink panda?
I was hesitant to buy the plants, not sure if I would be successful and the fact that the second plant (pink) didn't have a tag to tell me for sure what it was didn't help. I put each one in a large pedestal planter so they'd have room to spread and pink flowers has been growing and spreading and is now flowering.
I know I should remove the runners and flowers so the mother plant can get stronger, but I want strawberries, LOL! I also want more plants, especially now that it looks like I have an early season and a late season variety. I mean, how cool is that? Especially for two $0.50 clearance plants!
