Hi all,

I’ve had my fiddle fig for five years now and would like to propagate it so that it branches out. However all the nodes seem to have dried out.

Any idea where to cut it? I’ve added a couple of zoomed in pictures of the top branches.

Secondly the tree is nearing 6ft and in a 21cm diameter pot, it’s probably time for a larger pot.

Should I propagate first? Let it settle for a month and then repot.

Or should I repot first and wait to propagate?

Thanks for any help

Repot any time and propagate now. You can make cuttings with 2 leaves. The buds are still good even though they look dry. Cut it down to wherever you want.

Ficus plants are very easy to stem propagate. I use the top of the plant to make a cutting for the best plants. Snip where you want your main height on the big plant and then cut the top into a manageable cutting. Soak in RO or bottled water and when you see the first root hair, put it soil. Change the water once a week and keep it in a bright spot.
