Esther, when we lived up north, I used to hang sheets and towels out, and let them freeze. Getting the sheets through the door was interesting, but they and the towels did "freeze dry". Don't do that anymore here in Texas:)!

In the summer I use a sun oven- just need a sunny place to park it.

Have used it for baking, cooking stews and roasts, all sorts of fun.

I could probably use it on a cold sunny day but am too lazy to drag it outside.

This is the one I have- you could also make one fairly cheaply. I made a small one just as an experiment before taking the plunge and buying mine.

here is a pic of itView attachment 4159
How fascinating. I've never heard of a sun oven. I should get out more obviously!!!! Probably work well here and our house is unbearable in summer to cook in.
It's a late barbie or go hungry.
I'll look into it. Thanks CanadianLori. :notworthy:

Iron? My husband has two shirts that need a touch up with the iron. They're for weddings and funerals only!
I'm nearly with you on the ironing. I'm very slack nowadays. Since I started gardening being indoors seems so wrong. I iron when I'm stuck inside due to bad weather. My husband feels like he's got a brand new wardrobe when it rains.

LOL I love those jeans in the snow!
One tip (if you don't mind the smell of vinegar) is to put some in the final rinse. Helps soften up the laundry for air-drying.
