Hello! I'm new to gardening so have much to learn.

I have several conifers in the front of my house that are turning brown from the stem. I'm wondering if it's water related or a pest.

The outside of the fronds are still bright green and healthy, but along the trunk they're drying and dying.

I'd post a picture but it seems I cannot. Any help would be appreciated!

Probably because of lack of water. I have a conifer that is browning quickly too, and I recently watered it a lot and it looked slightly better.

For what it's worth, I've got a Crab Apple that has happily thrived on 14 years of neglect. This year the leaves were brown and falling off by June. Pretty sure that's down to lack of water. I'm in the normally wet West of Scotland too!

What kind of conifer? If it's something like Arborvitae or Cuppressocyparis, a certain amount is normal.
How old are they?
Is it all of them, evenly, or are some worse than others?
