What can I use to unclog the drain hole in a porcelain planter?

The width of a wire coat hanger. I was able to get the hanger wire in the hole approximately 1 inch. I paid $30 for this pot, it only has one drain hole that I can see.

Roberts suggestions are good. 
I'm assuming the planter still has a plant in it? With a single hole this size it is best to put a layer of some broken crocks or small stones in the base before putting soil in. It will help to keep the drainage hole free from clogging and therefore allowing any excess water through easily.
