Since our neighborhood has been practically overrun by cats I have a couple bad patches on my lawn and so have some of my neighbors. Is it true that cat pee kills grass? I mean a piece of my grass looks like a nappy fro. LOL. Don't like that look. --peace

Well, it can if there is enough of it,but urine is also a good fertilizer if used in moderate amounts. If you neighbors have the same problems then you must have a whole bunch of cats with urinary problems. Personally I would make sure it was';t grubs or a fungus problem.

I don't think it would be a problem unless the cats were always peeing in the same place. It might be something else like a fungus as mentioned above. I think most cats prefer to pee under bushes where they are not so visible, so unless you are seeing the cats doing it, I wouldn't suspect that to be the problem. I know our old kitty hated to be seen going, she would look so embarrassed.

I agree that cats would probably go in a more private space such as under a porch or shrub. Dogs however... female dogs have been known to "burn" spots in a lawn. High PH levels in dog urine = concentrated nitrogen= crispy grass. Do you have a dog or does a neighbors dog have access to your lawn? If it's your dog you maybe able to do something with diet to help with the PH level.

Good luck! =)

Another thing about cats is they instinctively like to bury their pee and so I would not imagine that they would go out in the open yard unless there was gravel nearby. The wild cats in my old neighborhood would go in the bushes around my yard as there was dirt there they could use to cover up their mess. It smelled bad too!

I have never heard of this before, and I am a little hesitant to try anything out, but hey, anything is worth a shot.
