Brown film on devils ivy stem

I’ve recently noticed a brown hard film on the stem of my devils ivy plant. It’s smooth to touch. The plant seems completely healthy, but I have never seen this on any of my plants before.
Does anyone know what this is or what I should do with it? Is it a problem or is it benign?
Love this plant so just want to make sure it’s healthy!
Any advice would be appreciated!

It's the Pothos version of bark and completely benign.
