Big grasshopper by the grape vine

We have noticed a big grasshopper in the grape vine for several days already and yesterday there was this skeleton or maybe the grasshopper had molted. It's like a clothes of the grasshopper that was taken off and it's really interesting to see and to touch. I don't know if the grasshopper is damaging to the grape vine but I doubt it. By the way our grape vine has 2 bunches of grapes that are ripening.

Oh gosh, that's fascinating! Wow! I didn't realize they shed their skins kind of like a snake! That's so interesting though - I'm just reading up on it online now after seeing your picture!

Something was making those holes in the grape (Vitis) leaves seen in the background, a large phytophagous insect like a grasshopper (Orthoptera) is a likely culprit, ...but indeed they are fascinating insects to observe.
