I know I should be patient and just watch, but I'm anxious to know. Is this new fruit starting or new leaves? I apologize for the poor quality of these pictures: my eyesight; is as bad as my hearing. I'm in Southeast Coastal Georgia, zone 8b and the tree is in its third year. Can anyone tell even from the bad pictures?

It's hard to tell for sure but does look promising to me. You will soon know for certain.

What type of persimmon tree is it? American persimmons usually need both male and female trees for pollination. Asian persimmons can be self-fruitful.
