Many pristine dandelions in my garden area. It was decided to process and eat some as an experiment similar like having spinach. I chose plants just about to flower, some having buds, and cut off at ground level. They were washed and steam cooked for about 12 to 15 minutes, and eaten with a touch of vinegar for flavor. I ingested about 200 grams. Excellent and readily available. There were no sprays in my garden area.

I found the dandelions to be basically another green probably similar to spinach. I ate 200 grams probably double the typical serving. I noticed no physical effects. I will eat more in the next month. They are just starting to grow this Spring.

That is a healthy, free, endlessly renewable food source. (y)

Do you think it would be good on a sandwich, instead of lettuce? Iceberg lettuce ranks as almost nothing in nutrients. :cautious:

I picked about 2 pounds this morning and am going to make blender juice. I used the yellow flower also. I suppose one could get use to them in place of lettuce. Dandelions certainly have a wonderful nutrient profile. Worth a try anyway, as long as one is cognizant of the spray that is so common

I've mostly heard of dandelion as a salad green. I put raw spinach on my sandwiches instead of lettuce, so when you compared it to spinach, it made me wonder. :)

Oh, and no one is spraying in my yard!! :cautious: o_O

Many dandelions in my yard. It was decided to use them for juice. About 740 grams were dug including the flowers, washed and cooked in water for 15 minutes and blended into slurry/juice. A glassful was consumed. The first taste was slightly bitter but acceptable. A great source of free nutrients as long as they are not sprayed with some of the numerous ‘cides now available. Many municipalities have banned spraying.
