Just out of curiosity, are there any domesticated varieties of this lovely plant ( dandelion)?

It's a minefield of sub species, don't think it's been domesticated though.

There are domesticated varieties from Italy. At least two seed suppliers in the U.S. offer domesticated varieties. I looked it up after I posted the thread, but I would love any comments from people who have tried them.

Dandelion wine is lovely.

Off the top of my head, gallon bucket of flower heads, boil up and leave to steep for a couple of days with a kilo of sugar, strain off and add yeast nutrient, citric acid and yeast.

Ferment out and leave till autumn, then drink the liquid sunshine :)

Am I correct in assuming that all of the green has to be picked from the flower heads? I would love to try this one day!

I don't go that mad, just nip the stalks out as close to the sepals as I can. Never noticed any bitterness from it.
