I planted peas in late February and it's likely that they will die in late June or July. They are on trellises and I am thinking about planting pole beans after that. What is the earliest I can plant beans in terms of the life cycle of peas?

I would like to plant where peas are as soon as I can. But I don't want too early so that none of them flourish because they are planted in the same area.

I like your thoughts on this. Personally, I'd plant the beans in the next couple weeks. The peas will soon be on their way out but the beans won't be ready for a few weeks.

Side benefit, the shade from the beans may help extend the life of the peas. Just realize that this will probably turn into a tangled mess no matter what. Just one of the joys of pole beans.
