My flowerbeds are built on gravel and drain very quickly. On Google, it says to test how quickly your soil drains, dig a hole around 12 x 12”, let it completely drain and then do it again and see how long it takes the water to go down. It said ideally an inch an hour. Mine drained an inch every 15 minutes.

So I have been advised by local garden nursery to go for Mediterranean plants. Can anyone recommend ones that will flower in the summer, are hardy and are ok in partial shade. I have a north west facing garden and need some plants on the left hand side. In the summer, they get sun until midday.

I do also need a couple that will need in full sun which ideally could go at back of flowerbed to add height.

Helianthemum
Lavandula
Cistus
Grevillea (not Mediterranean but likes those conditions)
Origanum
Salvia (European and North American)
Penstemon (ditto)

A lot of Australian, Chilean, South African and western North American natives like those same conditions.
