South Aust is looking very green at the moment due to the unusual amount of rain we’ve had ( I’ll take some photo one day ) of the crops near us .

The canola crops are glowing yellow , so hopefully that means we may get some warmer days soon, it’s been very cold this winter

Nothing happening in my garden , I picked a couple of red capsicums , it’s strange how they turn red in winter

Took this photo with my phone while traveling home a few days ago , it was about 2 pm
it’s got some pretty sour sobs on the roadsides, …….well this a gardening forum ……and sour sobs are a pain in the but for many Aussie gardeners

its normally bone dry on roadsides at this time of the year

This is the main highway of Australia Highway one~~ 2 lanes each way , until Port Wakefield which is about 100 Km from Adelaide city centre

Only my roses. Everything else suffering from this heat wave we are having with no rain for months. My water butts are dangerously low as I need rain water for my Carniverous plants.

I play word games on a senior forum , and a few of the members are from the UK
@Sluggy and I’ve seen some say they gets downpours for days on end , but as soon as the rain stops for a few days their lawns turn brown from lack of water , where here our small patch of lawn survives in the driest state in Australia with little water
our average rainfall is something like 10 ~ 12 inches a year

We've got a so called drought resistant small patch of lawn ,called Santa Anna couch

Don’t talk to me about couch grass. Our previous house had a large circular lawn at the front with a border surrounding it where I planted a load of lavender plants. Couch grass appeared from somewhere and grew up through the roots of my lavender plants. Every year I had to dig up each plant and tease the grass out of their roots.

We had the same problem here last year @Sluggy. Believe it or not the Highlands were in drought from the end of January through to late September.

I haven't figured out a back-up plan exactly...but I do have millions of gallons of rain water in ponds I could haul to my bog. That would be a pain but I'd do it.

What will you do in that event @Sluggy ?
