Zoysia if you dont have deep shade. Then St Aug if you do. If St Aug will not grow then you are off into the groundcovers like mondo grass.

I've never experienced Centipedegrass. Do you get Santa Ana Bermuda? It's an old one here, but still a great choice. I don't know if you get Kikuyugrass there, but here it's just about the toughest there is. It used to be considered a noxious weed that was quarantined but they finally just gave up controlling it. It's only garden and pasture-invasive and not a threat to undisturbed areas.
