At the new house we have a power line easement coming from the road to the back of the house.

I am wanting to have some sort of a visual screen out towards the road so you cannot see the back of the house near as easily and it will also help with some of the dust reaching the house when we have south winds.

This will need to be 3' tall at a minimum since the road actually sits a little lower where they had to cut it in when it was built.

Any ideas?

I was thinking of either some Big Bluestem or another warm season native.

It will be in a strip that's about 60' long and maybe 10-15' wide.

Zone 6.

Are you wanting ornamental grass to use as a screen? Big Bluestem can be very invasive in some locations. It's even prohibited in some areas.

Big bluestem has demonstrated that it is invasive in some areas. Be sure to check with your local authorities before seeding big bluestem to ensure that planting this grass in your area is allowed. Google
