Tomatoes stay green forever?!

If you like green tomatoes, perhaps you could try growing Aunt Ruby's German Green. Also, there is such thing as green cherrys.

I think that there is a place for both hybrids and heirlooms.
The hybrids give an earlier, bigger and more certain crop, & for novices, provide an excellent introduction to tomato-growing because of their disease resistance. Tomatoes, especially outdoor tomatoes, are a marginal crop in the UK because of the climate, which is mild and damp, just the ticket for late blight.
We also, by and large, have less room to grow than in US.
I do, however, love the variety of taste, colour and texture from heirlooms, and feel that, at least a few are worth the risk, now that I have a bit more experience.
I also love being able to save seed...just in case...
This year Black Russians and Gardener's Delights are my heirlooms.
