I could do with someone Gromit, with a clipboard, to record the comings and goings.

We've only one hedgehog in residence. It's in the house under the azaleas to the side of the patio. It's of regular habits, still.

First appearance last night around 9.30 pm.

View attachment 105718

Then it was in and out for most of the night, sometimes with an hour between appearances, until it went to bed at 5.30 am.

The other two houses are still unoccupied.

But we're getting at least one visitor.

In through the doorway in the fence around 2.00am.

Then out again at 5.00am,

(you can just see its back leg going through the doorway)

The three lots of food I leave out, all got eaten.
Love the pictures. Hedgehogs are great. We get lots by our place, unfortunately lots of them get killed on the roads too

Last night, at 9.09pm, this was the first visit to this house since I'd cleaned it out and put in some fresh hay for bedding.

Subsequent visits were made during the evening, including inspections of the interior.

I'd obviously put in too much hay, as some was removed before it left at 11.44pm

Quite a lot of activity last night, all the food in both feeders was eaten.

There were four "ins" through the doorway, like this.

Followed consecutively by four "outs" like this.

IMAG0021.JPG

This was over a period of about six hours.

Whether this was just one hedgehog or more than one, I don't know. But I suspect there were more, as one wouldn't have eaten that much food.

There was no traffic through the other doorway.

I'm pleased with the quality of the images taken by my newest camera which was less than £40, post-free from Apeman. The videos are just as clear.

There was a bit of traffic in and out of this doorway last night.

The last activation was an "in" on this camera.

The house under the azaleas got some attention.

Though the last image was an "out." Except for some "passing traffic" early this morning.

The audio on these cameras is impressive. I could hear kids in a garden several houses away at around 10.00pm last night.
I've still no idea how many hedgehogs there are, or whether any of the three houses have residents. But they must be happy with the current situation.

There was a bit of a queue for the feeder on the patio last night....

So we've at least two that come into the garden. These two were following each other around the patio for quite some time and didn't seem to mind the bit of rain we had.

However, the house under the azaleas had no visitors.

There was quite a bit of traffic through the doorway in the fence.

Out.

Back in again seven seconds later, perhaps it forgot something?

Another visitor, not so welcome, but they are around in the garden every year.

IMAG0007.jpg

As usual, all the food was eaten.

Nothing unusual last night, the visitors didn't arrive until 2.00am. So must be finding food elsewhere. Although they do eat what's available.
I thought I'd show you a photo of "Bert" our blackbird, he never strays far from our garden and his partner "Brenda" is never far away. Bert considers the garden his own and sees off any other blackbirds. He doesn't mind any of the smaller birds.

At least two hedgehogs on the camera last night, but none were together.

In and out of this feeder several times.

IMAG0023.JPG

The house under the azaleas was not visited.

I turned the camera around that covers the doorway in the fence, to face the house in the corner of the garden behind the black bamboo.
There was some activity, passing the house on the way to the feeder.
But this was the last photo of one disappearing into the house, at five to six this morning, so it may still be in there.

This was the earliest photo taken last night at 7.34 pm. Whether it had just come out of the house, I can't say for sure. But it's likely.

IMAG0001.jpg

What I wasn't happy about was the attention given to both houses at the bottom of the garden, by a neighbour's pesky cat. It actually stood on the roof of this house for a few seconds, before making its way towards the other one.

IMAG0007.jpg

Screenshot 2025-04-20 103459.png

It can't get at either the food or inside either of the houses, but the attention wouldn't be welcome. It may be just curious as it's all fairly new and as there's nothing for it, maybe it'll go elsewhere.
There's no photo of the hedgehog actually going back into the house. But there is one with nothing on it at around half past four, so maybe it just missed it going in.

Only one visited the feeder on the patio and not all the food was eaten. Maybe they are finding live food elsewhere.
