I have a Sweet Almond Bush I planted last year, the thing grew very quickly from 2-ft (0.6 m) high, it's now nearly 15-ft (4.5 m) high and I had no wish to prune it. However, yesterday we experienced some relatively high southeast winds 20-30 mph (32-48 kph) and now the top of the plant is pointing northwest -- looks kind of funky.
I'm thinking I need to do a hard pruning. I see various recommendations on how to do this, but they do differ and I can't find anything concrete on how to do this, other than don't do it in the winter time and wait till after a flowering time.
Anyone have this problem, with this plant, and could give some advice?
