My kids brought this citrus fruit from a field trip. I've never seen one like it. The skin outside a bit tough like an orange thats dried out. They are about 2-2.5 inches long. Wonder what it is.

The citrus sacs inside tasted like grapefruit but not as bitter.

Looks like a Finger Lime. They are in stores here sometimes. I think they originated in Australia but will probably grow where ever citrus grows.

I thought it has gone bad or something, from the colour.

I guess the Buddha hand lemon is the creepiest looking lemon.

Why did they name the citron as Buddha hand, it looks more like the hand of person suffering from minamata:ROFLMAO:

Theres actually a citrus called ugli fruit which, um, looks a bit ugly but I didn't think it was like a Hunchback of fruits or anything. I'll try it this season.

View attachment 28488 I think it is amazing art from Mother Nature, but i agree that "Buddha Hand" is a very strange name for it and it would be difficult to peel.
its used whole or grated, I guess!

I have not tried Buddha hand, But I have used grated lemon peel (just outer yellow till white portion) to make syrup, and dip, it gives faint color and add aroma. Its quite healthy (its believed as a cure for malaria)
