Something ate my rose's root ball

Some thing consumed the roots on one of my prized rose bushes. I am saying one day it looked fine . The next day I went to water and the leaves looked wilted. I tugged at the wilted leaf and the whole bush just tilted over. I pulled it up and it was as if the plant had just been set on top of the soil ! No roots at all !

Sounds like you have a gopher. They LOVE roses and can eat the whole root system overnight.
Traps are your best bet unless you have an experienced exterminator available.
