He is honest to goodness allergic and I've seen him have an asthma attack from dirt, so I want to help.

I plan on an indoor fruit tree. I'm wondering if I can somehow cover the dirt with plastic wrap. Will it smother the tree? would it be ok with a few air holes? is there perhaps a better way for me to go about this? Thanks all!

Normally people are allergic to dust indoors, not to dirt in a pot. Dirt doesn't go airborne, unless it's very dry and you have wind, so this is very suspicious to me. My roommate claimed to be allergic to dogs. I have one, she never sneezes or has any allergic reaction.
Sometimes they tell ya stuff so they have things how " they" like it.

Keep the plants, relocate the roommate 😆
