Tips on how to prune this beast for the winter? I’m guessing it’ll just need pruning for the winter or again before Spring next year? It’s pretty big, I did prune it last year but I don’t think I cut enough off and just cut it randomly

No I don’t plan on bringing it in as it was left out in the winter last time. I’ve been reading up on when roses need pruning for the winter and some say October and others say leave it till February/March time

I make an initial prune in Autumn to prevent wind rock, they really hate it if the root gets loosened. Then in Spring I will prune back to three or four buds. The advantage of not doing it all at once is that if there is a bit of a hard winter you can get die back from the cut end and lose the next bud or two down. Remember to take out anything crossing over and keep it nice and open, a through draft helps prevent disease. Pick up everything and all the dead leaves for the same reason.
